AMANTES . Torino . Via Principe Amedeo 38/a . 7/28 february
during XX Olympic Winter Games Turin 2006

After the previous experience with PixelPancho (Vi attacco al muro / I hang you up the wall, 29.11-19.12.05) and the opening to the street art we started to look at the city wall with more attention, graffiti and tags surrounded by writings on houses, public buildings and even monuments and historical spots; scars and communication desires at the same time. Suddenly, in a week time, everything disappeared, smeared with acid or freshly painted the walls regained their former anonymous stillness and re-gathered their original function of clean surfaces.

Terrible phrases, dirty insults, political messages stopped playing their sermons to the pedestrians, together with historical graffiti and tags that marked the passage of legendary urban writers, many of whom joined the post-graffiti movement or transformed their passion in a job: abroad.

Starting from this point, capitalizing the contacts from the previous experiences, Amantes gives life from 7 to 28 February to REWRITING. Seven appointments in the Olympic season, dedicated to the re-mapping, on the Amantes' walls, of the graffiti and tags erased from the Turin buildings, coupled with sounds and images from the same culture and dressed with a round table featuring journalists, artists, writers, anthropologists, social scientists that will talk about the spontaneous communication theme.

The “tam tam” in Turin already started, writers can use 12 spaces of 2x1.5m each to write on every Tuesday (7/14/21) from 15 to 22, while the Dj's and Mc's crew will play on Friday (10/17/24 Febrary) and Tuesday 28 from 19 to 22. Seven forced meetings for people involved in graffiti, with surprise meetings of crews from other cities.
